About the Program

The News Intern will provide assistance to the DC Bureau and production crews on a daily basis, including assistance with research, administrative items, interviews, and live shots. 

The College Intern/Production Assistant will work 30-35 hours per week. The DC Bureau will hire one summer intern. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
• Assists with coverage of events and live shots 
• Answers phones and assists with administrative duties at the DC Bureau 
• Researches possible story ideas and gathers accurate information for news stories 
• Assists with or conducts taped interviews

Description

College Intern/Production Assistant must be actively enrolled in a college/university. Students who have already graduated from college/university are not eligible for this position. 

Other Skills and Abilities: 
• Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree 
• Bilingual in Spanish and English 
• Excellent organizational and research skills 
• Detail-oriented individual 
• Self-motivated with good news judgment. 
• Must work well under pressure

Basic Requirements: 
• Must be 18 years or older 
• Must be willing to submit to a background investigation 
• Must be fluent in Spanish and English (speak, read & write) 
• Interested candidate must submit a resume/CV through www.nbcunicareers.com to be considered 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel is a plus 

Eligibility Requirements: 
• Must be able to work the duration of 10 weeks during the Summer 2015 (June 8-August 14) 
• Involved in a project-based internship program 
• Minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 
• Sophomore standing or higher (30+ credits) 
• Attending an accredited institution and working towards earning an associate, bachelor, or graduate degree 
• Must have unrestricted work authorization for a paid position to work in the United States
