About the Program |
For 20 years, the HBA-DC Foundation has awarded Fellowships to first and second year law students from law schools in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area. These Fellowships serve as financial support to students working in unpaid summer internships with public interest organizations in the area. These internships introduce law students to public interest legal work and help direct legal service providers and advocates meet the needs of Latinos and other underserved persons in our community. Past HBA-DC Foundation Fellows have contributed to: representing domestic violence victims; preparing class action law suits on behalf of language minority and Dreamer students; helping refugees to obtain available benefits and recognition; representing Spanish-speaking criminal defendants with mental disabilities, among other challenging assignments.
