Content Protection Graduate Internship (Spring 2015)

Organization

20th Century Fox

Opportunity Type

Internship

About the Program

The Fox Content Protection group is charged with protecting all feature and television content produced or distributed by Fox Entertainment Group, and is responsible for ensuring that all content can be distributed profitably and securely through all media worldwide. The group approaches the challenge from several directions: Technology, Litigation, Anti-Piracy Enforcement, Preventing Content Leaks, Legislation/Regulation, and Public Relations/Education programs. Project(s)/Tasks: Twentieth Century Fox seeks J.D. and L.L.M. candidates for internship positions in its Content Protection group. Our department of attorneys and other legal professionals oversees the protection of Fox television (e.g. The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Glee) and film (e.g. Avatar; Date Night and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), content against the pervasive and ever-evolving threat of piracy. There is a particular emphasis on combating copyright infringement occurring in online environments such as user-generated content sites like YouTube or peer-to-peer networks. Interns will participate in the monitoring of and enforcement against such piracy, including conducting detailed copyright infringement and fair use analyses; identifying and researching litigation targets, and searching the internet for infringing copies of Fox content. Familiarity with basic principles of Copyright Law and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act is a plus. Learning Objectives: The position will provide you with a solid understanding of the widespread issue of film and television piracy and its impact upon the entertainment industry and, ultimately, consumers. This is a great opportunity for students interested in pursuing practice in the fields of Intellectual Property, Entertainment, or Media Law.
