About the Program

Graduate, Postdoctoral and Senior Research Opportunities. The National Research Council of the National Academies offers awards to graduate, postdoctoral and senior researchers for independent research to be conducted in residence at participating U.S. federal laboratories and affiliated institutions. Awards include a competitive stipend, relocation, professional travel, and health insurance. Annual application deadlines are February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1. Stipend ranges from $45,000 to $80,000 per annum for recent PhD recipients and is higher for additional experience. Travel to Professional Scientific meetings included. Laboratory provides programmatic support.

  • Master's Student (M.A., M.S., M.B.A.)
  • Doctoral Student (Ph.D./M.D.)
  • Recent Graduate - Doctoral Degree
Academic Requirements

Qualified applicants must have received or expect to receive the PhD at the time of application. Also open to more experienced researchers. Applicants who are studying all STEM fields are welcome to apply.
