About the Program

Magnet Schools of America (MSA) is offering a summer internship for an intelligent, driven, and enterprising undergraduate or graduate student interested in learning about education policy and nonprofit work in Washington, DC. Through their work with Magnet Schools of America, our interns gain specific knowledge about magnet schools, the school choice movement, and the current successes and challenges of the K-12 public education system.

The Policy and Communications Intern position provides unparalleled exposure to Capitol Hill and its inner workings. The intern will attend education-related Congressional briefings and hearings, as well as other events throughout the city. The intern will analyze data related to magnet school performance and incorporate that information into his/her policy analyses. This position is a great opportunity for a high-achieving individual to apply policy analysis and research skills to the K-12 educational landscape. The intern will also monitor and follow social media outlets for connections to magnet schools and share relevant content with our membership. (S)he will also draft press releases and articles for our organizational blogs and monthly newsletter.

Internships are unpaid; however, interns will receive a prepaid Metro Card for internship-related travel. We also are happy to work with your school to complete any paperwork to satisfy course credit or other internship-related requirements.
