About the Program

The social media intern will assist the social media strategist in three main areas: analysis, research, and community management. Primary channels include Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Responsibilities may include administrative support. Selection will be based on the candidate’s demonstrated social media acumen, familiarity with tech platforms, and interest in/involvement with subject matter. This is a volunteer internship. A $1,000/month stipend is offered to help offset expenses. Key Social Profiles Facebook Twitter Pinterest Duties Assist in tracking of social metrics, including compiling and analyzing historic data. Utilize data to develop recommendations on topics such as optimal post timing, headline testing, number of times to share each story, etc. Investigate emerging social channels for marketing potential. Work with field staff to surface and share content about National Treasures projects and other field work. Serve as a support desk as field staff become more used to using social. Contribute to community management and content-sharing planning.

Requirements

Description

Qualifications Current or recent undergraduate or graduate student; digital marketing, online communications, journalism, writing, English, history, or a related field preferred Must have a strong, public social media presence Demonstrated experience managing social media for a consumer-facing brand, nonprofit, or museum Responsible, motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable with collaboration Excellent interpersonal, project management, research, analytic, and writing skills required Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Analytics required, experience with Sprout Social preferred Ability to manage time, adhere to regular deadlines, prioritize quickly, and readjust priorities throughout the day Demonstrated interest in subject matter (historic preservation , history, architecture) Must be able to commit at least 32 hours/week for six months
