About the Program |
One of the Intertech Foundation’s focuses is the inspiration of young people towards the building of science, engineering and technology skills. To further that pursuit, the Foundation has announced an exciting new scholarship for students interested in pursuing careers as professional web developers. This opportunity is aimed at college-bound high school students, who have excelled in the areas of Math and Science, to move on to college studies in the area of computer science. A Grant committee comprised of the Intertech Foundation Board of Directors will judge and select one recipient from the applicants. Factors playing into the selection include: Participation in school related organizations Elected leadership positions Community involvement ACT/SAT score Grade point average References Essay, etc. Participation in the National First Robotic Challenge (not required, but favorable) The scholarship award will be made in two equal payments directly to the student’s college or university at the beginning of each semester. The scholarship recipient must maintain a minimum of 3.3 GPA during the first semester to receive the second payment. The scholarship recipient’s school must provide: Proof of the student’s GPA after the first semester Proof that the student is in good standing and is enrolled for the upcoming semester Receipts for each check received from the Intertech Foundation on the student’s behalf. |

Description |
This non-renewable scholarship* (only awarded for one year to any scholarship recipient), in the amount of $2500, will be available for high school applicants starting January 1st, 2015. To be eligible, the student must possess: Cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 or better An intent to study computer science Acceptance at an accredited college or university within the US Read more: http://www.intertech.com/About/Foundation/Scholarship#ixzz3MHoT5pBD To apply, students must be ready to submit the following (only complete applications will be considered): -Official high school transcript (sent directly from student’s high school to the Intertech Foundation)** -Resume describing any extracurricular activities and employment experience -Two letters of recommendation (one of which should be from a Math or Science teacher familiar with the student) -Copy of official college/university acceptance letter -One-page essay describing how the student hopes to participate in the professional software development industry -Experience with the National First Robotic Challenge (not required) |
