About the Program |
Advancement Project is currently seeking candidates for full-time or part-time legal internships for Spring 2015 at our Washington, DC office. Interns will work closely with our staff of civil rights attorneys and communication experts in creating and implementing strategies to support identified community-organizing efforts around racial justice issues. Advancement Project is a policy and legal action civil rights organization that develops innovative strategies for achieving universal opportunity and a racially just democracy. With offices in Washington, DC and Los Angeles, CA, we provide community-focused lawyering, policy research, and aggressive media strategies to grassroots organizations fighting to promote racial and social justice. Our efforts are primarily focused in these major areas: education, voter protection, and felony re-enfranchisement. For more information, visit www.advancementproject.org. Candidates must be law students or recent law school graduates. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to public service. Some experience in civil rights law, policy advocacy, or community organizing is a plus. Fluency in Spanish is also a plus. Eligibility for public interest grants or work study is not required, though welcome. To apply, please send a cover letter, resume, writing sample, and list of three references to the attention of Jadine Johnson, at InternProgram@advancementproject.org. Reference “Spring 2015 Legal Internship - (Your First and Last Name)” in the subject line.
