About the Program

The Open Source Center seeks motivated graduate- and doctoral-level students with demonstrated reading proficiency in a foreign language for paid fellowships. Qualified candidates will have an opportunity to review and assess publicly available information in the foreign arena--including radio, television, press, geospatial sources, Internet sites--and specialized publications--to contribute to the  delivery of high-impact products to the US foreign affairs community.  These students hone their foreign language, area knowledge, and subject matter expertise to develop an understanding of how information collected supports policymakers.

Description

The students we seek are creative and energetic, with a keen interest in foreign affairs and have strong writing and problem-solving skills. These students also can demonstrate reading proficiency in a foreign language; have strong Internet research skills; possess strong communication, interpersonal, and English language skills; and can work collaboratively as part of a diverse group. Additionally, many of our students have studied or lived abroad, have formally studied the politics, history, or other aspect of a particular country or region, or have otherwise have gained insight into a foreign culture.
