About the Program

The mission of the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program is to increase the number of historically disenfranchised and underrepresented professionals in student affairs and/or higher education, including but not limited to those of racial and ethnic-minority background; those having a disability; and those identifying as LGBTQ.

If  accepted into the program, students are then known as Fellows and have opportunities for scholarships, on-campus mentorship, and professional development events.

Requirements

Description
  • Identify as a member of a traditionally underrepresented or historically disenfranchised student population, including, but not limited to Black/African American, Asian, Hispanic/Latino(a), Indigenous (Native American, Alaskan, Hawaiian), Multiethnic, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, or as having a disability.

Degree Programs
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.)
Minimum GPA
2.5 (preference to 2.7)
Year in School
  • College Freshman
  • College Sophomore
  • College Junior
  • College Senior
  • College Fifth Year Senior
Academic Requirements
  • Have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application. Applicants with a 2.7 cumulative GPA will receive preference in the review process.

  • Have at least one more semester of undergraduate education left at time of application. December 2014 graduates may apply.
  • Two letters of recommendation from two staff members or faculty, in addition to your proposed mentor application letter. These letters should address your potential as a future student affairs professional. Ideally, these letters would be sent in the entire packet.
