About the Program

The San Francisco State Community College Transfer Honor Scholarship is available to incoming transfer Alpha Gamma Sigma or Phi Theta Kappa or Community College campus Honors program students on a competitive basis in recognition of academic excellence and financial need.

Description
  1. Be an Alpha Gamma Sigma or Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society member or a member of the Community College campus Honors Program at a California Community College.
  2. Entering Junior from a California Community College. 
  3. Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  4. Have financial need as determined by the SF State Office of Student Financial Aid. Apply or reapply online using the 2014-2015 Free Application for Federal Student Aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov OR students who meet the AB540 definition, apply using the 2014-2015 CA Dream Act Application at www.caldreamact.org (apply by the March 2, 2014 priority deadline). 
  5. Enroll full-time (12 units) each semester at SF State for the 2014-2015 academic year.
  6. A recommendation letter on letterhead from an Alpha Gamma Sigma advisor or Phi Theta Kappa advisor or the Community College Honors Program director/advisor or from a faculty member at your current college. If the recommendation letter is from a faculty member, you must also submit a letter from your honor society or honors program advisor to confirm your membership.
  7. Write a personal statement (see scholarship application for guidelines). 
  8. Submit or mail: the completed and signed scholarship application, signed letter of recommendation on letterhead & confirmation of membership, an unofficial academic transcript from all Community Colleges and other colleges attended and your personal statement to the SF State Office of Student Financial Aid.
