Established in the Fall of 1999 by major Washington-area corporations and foundations, DC-CAP is a privately-funded nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging and enabling DC public high school students to enroll in and graduate from college.

District of Columbia College Access Program (DC-CAP)

Description: DC-CAP places advisors in all DC public and charter senior high schools to counsel students in grades nine through twelve.  These dedicated advisors work to build awareness among freshmen and sophomores of the importance of college.  Advisors counsel juniors and seniors individually on college selection and completing admission applications. DC-CAP advisors help students identify and apply for financial aid to pay for college.  DC-CAP also provides "Last Dollar" awards for up to $2,070 per year, for up to five years of college, to close the financial needs gap between students' resources, financial aid and actual college expenses.
