Description: The Virginia Tech Future Faculty Development Program is an intensive two day event for a small group of doctoral students and post-doctoral scholars interested in pursuing academic careers. The program provides participants with the opportunity to hear presentations and have candid discussions with department heads, deans, and current faculty members about faculty life and the range of responsibilities of faculty in learning, discovery, and engagement. Participants are hosted by a Virginia Tech department to tour research facilities, meet with current faculty to gain a greater awareness of research and teaching opportunities, and discuss their career prospects and academic work.
