The Washington DC Metropolitan Area Chapter is one of two chapters (and the National headquarters) in the Mid-Atlantic region of the organization. The Washington DC Metropolitan Area Chapter remains one of the most diverse, viable and goal oriented chapters within the national organization. The chapter consists of members and membership companies from the District of Columbia and the states of Virginia & Maryland.
Headquartered in the District of Columbia, our member companies include (but not limited to): Duncan, Weinberg, Genzer & Pembroke P.C., PEPCO, American Electric Power (AEP), Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, United States Department of Energy, American Gas Association (AGA), , Edison Electric Institute (EEI), Natural Grid, Tokyo Electric, Northeast Utilities, Stinson, Morrison, Hecker LLP, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Nuclear Energy Institute, Washington Gas, First Energy, Calpine, Zillion Maritime Services, Exelon Corp., PSE&G, NREL, BPA, Duke Energy, DTE Energy, Mid-American Energy Holdings, SoCalEdison, Troutman Sanders, Dominion, BHMM Energy Services.
The DC Chapter is uniquely positioned to leverage the wealth of talent that exists in the Nation’s Capital and hosts a bi-monthly speaker series. Minority professionals in all energy and energy-related disciplines (oil, gas, electricity, nuclear, renewables, government, technology, energy services and water) are welcome to join and give our membership a broader knowledge about the industry when topics arise.
Our mission is to provide energy professionals, executives, entrepreneurs, and students a pathway to learn more about the energy industry through education, mentoring, community service and business networking.
College students at locally accredited institutions studying energy-related fields are also encouraged to participate in AABE.

Description: The American Association of Blacks in Energy is a professional organization of African Americans in the energy industry. Through its Scholarship Program, AABE seeks to help increase the number of African Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans (underrepresented minorities) in energy related fields. By doing so, we help our nation address a critical need and a challenge to our future economic vitality in the world market.
