The mission of APTS is to conduct – in concert with member stations – advocacy, planning, research and communications activities in order to achieve strong and financially sound noncommercial television and advanced digital services for the American people.

Opportunity Type: Internship
Description: The Association of Public Television Stations (APTS) is seeking a Communications Intern to provide direct support to the Communications Department and its effort to gather and disseminate information relevant to the mission of local public television stations. The desirable skills of the successful applicant include the ability to conduct in-depth research, analysis and compilation of information; superb writing and verbal communications skills; and a strong attention to detail. High school or college newspaper experience a plus. The Intern will assist the Communications Department in using new media tools, including social networking sites, blogs, the Association website and other online media, to promote the initiatives that APTS undertakes on behalf of local public television stations. The Intern will support public television’s political advocacy efforts, both direct and grassroots, before the Administration, Congress and the Federal Communications Commission. Additionally, the intern will prepare written materials communicating essential aspects of APTS legislative and regulatory agendas, and research and summarize station activities to be used as content for communications with the media, policymakers, the grassroots network and APTS member stations. APTS is seeking someone with availability in the winter semester (January through March) for a minimum of 32 hours a week. Commuting costs will be reimbursed up to company limits. A bonus stipend is available based on work quality.
Opportunity Type: Internship
Description: The Association of Public Television Stations (APTS) is seeking a second or third year law student as a law clerk in its Legal department. Students interested in establishing a legal career in the telecommunications industry or in the Executive or Legislative Branches of Government are encouraged to apply. The Intern will assist in researching and drafting APTS comments to file in FCC proceedings and review and summarize comments filed by other parties in FCC proceedings. The Intern may also assist in the drafting of suggested statutory and committee report language and hearing questions. Additionally, the Intern will perform basic research projects on telecommunications issues i.e.: digital television and nonprofit access to telecommunications technologies, and respond to APTS members' inquiries by researching responses and drafting correspondence to member stations, as well as work on projects in other departments as needed. APTS is seeking someone with availability in the winter semester (January through March) for a minimum of 25 hours a week. Commuting costs will be reimbursed up to company limits. A bonus stipend is available based on work quality.
