Intern, Division of Adolescent Health Services

Opportunity Type: Internship
Description: Advocates for Youth's Division of Adolescent Sexual Health Services provides information, training, and technical assistance on science-based teen pregnancy prevention strategies, including contraceptive access and education, for health care providers, educators, and youth-serving professionals. Over the last 10 years, the Division has worked intensively with state and local teen pregnancy prevention organizations to help build their capacity to promote and implement science-based teen pregnancy prevention strategies in their regions. Currently, through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Advocates provides capacity-building technical assistance and training to nine community-based projects. In addition, with support from private foundations, the Division is working in eight sites to promote contraceptive education and access through pharmacies, family planning clinics, hospitals, and businesses and through youth-led social media outreach.

RESPONSIBILITES AND WORK ACTIVITIES: Collect data for the development of case studies, training materials and other publications, including curricula, fact sheets, bibliographies, literature reviews, planning guides, and toolkits. Work with Evaluation Director to collect and compile data needed for case studies and other publications. Compile policies and procedures collected from all of the grantees to create a model policy and procedures manual that provides recommendations for youth engagement and youth/adult partnerships in community-wide TPP projects. Assist with the development of the annual CDC project continuation application, interim/annual report, and final report, and oversee the completion and submission of technical assistance reports to the CDC. Write blogs on the Advocates for Youth website on the strengths, opportunities, challenges and results of engaging the youth voice in the TPP conversations. Complete other tasks as assigned.
