The Central Valley Chapter of La Raza Lawyers Association is an affiliate of La Raza Lawyers of California. The State wide organization was organized in 1977 as a non-profit association to support Chicano and Latino Lawyers in California and serve as a statewide network for local affiliates. The Central Valley Chapter was organized in 1979 by members of the emerging Hispanic legal community. Each year LRLA sponsors the Mario G. Olmos Memorial Scholarship Banquet at which the association awards scholarships to deserving students.

Since 1980, La Raza Lawyers Association of Fresno has awarded scholarships to deserving law students who have demonstrated academic achievement, leadership ability, involvement in the Latino community, financial need, and ties to California’s Central Valley.
