What are the benefits of creating a CHCI NextOpp account?
Users with accounts receive added benefits such as
the ability to save multiple searches, add items to a favorites list,
receive email reminders about application due dates, and access to the
calendar feature. To create an account, click here.
What do I need in order to create a user account?
Users interested in creating an account on CHCI NextOpp must answer a series
of demographic questions, such as: name, city, state, zip
code, etc. CHCI uses this information to determine who is using the site and how we can continue to improve it based on users' needs.
What if I can’t remember my password?
Users can click here to have their password sent to their registered email address.
How much does it cost to use the site?
CHCI NextOpp is free to all thanks to the support of our sponsor, State FarmTM.
What if I currently live abroad?
At this time, the CHCI NextOpp website only features opportunities for students who live in the United States or Puerto Rico. Consequently, students interested in creating a
profile must enter a U.S. city, state and zip code.
Can I use this website if I am not Latino?
While the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) is a national
nonprofit organization dedicated to developing the next generation of
Latino leaders, this website can be used by all. We have collected a
wide variety of opportunities for Latino, minority, low-income, and/or
first-generation students.

Creating a Search
How many searches can I conduct?
CHCI NextOpp does not have a limit on the searches a user can conduct or save to their profile. Search away!
Do I have to be a student to search for opportunities?
No. CHCI NextOpp is designed to provide current students and recent graduates opportunities to help them pursue their educational and career goals. In addition, both parents and adults who work with students will find helpful resources to support young people on their journey.
There are a lot of majors and college/universities listed! How can I quickly find my major/school on the list?
Click on the appropriate field, then start typing your major or college/university. This should bring you to the right spot on the list. You can use the arrow key to scroll up and down as well.
What if my major is not available?
CHCI NextOpp has a comprehensive list of over 150 majors and minors. If your major is not listed, please send an email to NextOpp@chci.org with your request. Note: majors are not required to conduct a search.
What if my college/university is not listed?
CHCI NextOpp has a comprehensive list of over 5,000 colleges and universities. If your school is not listed, please send an email to NextOpp@chci.org with your request. Note: colleges and universities are not required to conduct a search.
How do I search for opportunities available to students who are not U.S. citizens?
On the Advanced Search page, users can search for opportunities based on a variety of citizenship statuses. For opportunities open to all students, select "Citizenship status not considered."

If an opportunity appears in my search results, does that mean I’m eligible?
No. We encourage you to review the eligibility requirements and contact the provider via email or phone with specific questions about their opportunity. CHCI NextOpp does not guarantee eligibility.
Who should I contact if I have questions about an opportunity or want to apply?
Contact the organization that provides the opportunity. Contact information is listed on every opportunity. CHCI NextOpp is unable to answer your questions about programs or
requirements.
How can I share an opportunity that I find on CHCI NextOpp with others?
Users can share opportunities at any time by clicking on the “Share This” icon on the right side of any page.
I know of a great opportunity that should be included! How do I suggest an opportunity?
Currently users can suggest adding opportunities to the CHCI NextOpp website by emailing NextOpp@chci.org with the organization’s name, type of opportunity (internship, scholarship, etc.) and a point of contact.
